When people envisage getting married in New Zealand, they often picture dramatic, snow capped mountains surrounded by pristine waterfalls and clear alpine lakes. In Queenstown, we are fortunate enough to be surrounded by a plethora of mountains, each unique with its own character. Even more fortunate is that we have been granted a large number of DOC concessions which allow us to pilot our drone to best capture your big day in all its cinematic glory. Check out some of the most popular spots with our drone reels.

No matter where you land on Vanguard Peak you’re surrounded by layer upon layer of epic mountains and valleys as far as you can see. And with snow on the ground in the winter months it’s perfect for snow landing. When there’s a moody, dark sky overhead this has to be one of the most dramatic mountain scapes around. Not even a grey sky can kill the mood around here!

At the highest point of The Remarkables mountain range you’re rewarded with incredible views over Lake Wakatipu. In winter Double Cone is covered in snow so you might want to leave your stilettos and brogues in the chopper, whilst the warmer months reveal every amazing angle of the dramatic mountain schist. It’s the perfect location if you’re having a big wedding in Queenstown but you still want to take off for an adventure post ceremony and be back in time for your speeches.
Only a short flight from town and with stunning views over Lake Wakatipu and the Southern Alps, The Ledge at Cecil Peak is one of the most popular Queenstown heli locations. And we are lucky enough to be one of the few companies with all the right certifications to be able to capture drone footage there. The Ledge drops off to some amazing cliffs that give you that “on top of the world” feeling and beautifully dramatic angles for your wedding film.

Coromandel Peak
Wanaka
Flight Time: 5 minutes
This is arguably one of the most iconic alpine wedding locations. With its sweeping views over the Southern Alps and Lake Wanaka this spot is spectacular in any season and so easily accessible. It’s also on private land so you can book the spot exclusively for yourselves during your ceremony or photo/video shoot and relax knowing you’re the only ones there. The sun sets perfectly behind the ridge line here so consider timing your flight around golden hour to bask in that beautiful light.
Crystal clear blue/green water surrounded by snowy mountains in the Fiordland National Park is what awaits you after your flight over The Divide to Lake Erskine. In winter the lake will often freeze over, and we’ve been lucky enough to catch the Spring warmth turning the frozen lake into little icebergs you can see zip away over the waterfall. Couples reactions as we fly over the last ridge line to reveal Lake Erskine nestled in the mountains with that sheer drop off the far end is about as priceless as the view itself. Catch it on a calm day and the reflections on a glassy Lake Erskine are like looking into a magic mirror.

Located on the edge of the Mt Aspiring National Park, Tyndall Glacier cuts an impressive figure as your backdrop with it’s enormous mass of crevasse filled, glacial blue ice. Although it’s not that far away, the majesty of Tyndall Glacier definitely makes you feel like you’re not in Queenstown anymore Dorothy.
